Cyndy Bittinger, presents her book “Vermont Women, Native Americans & African Americans: Out of the Shadows of History”, will speak to this topic on August 25th. The book takes a fresh look at Vermont’s history, uncovering hidden stories, from the earliest inhabitants to present day citizens. She has a section on Achsa Sprague of Plymouth, the famous spiritualist who spoke about important issues way ahead of her time in the 1850s.

She is on the faculty at the Community College of Vermont, where she has lectured on Vermont History and Women in US History for over 20 years. She was a commentator for many years on Vermont Public Radio. Her previous talk for the Bridgewater Historical Society was in August 2023, when she spoke on her book “Grace Coolidge – Sudden Star”.
